Rector of Kaduna Polytechnic, Professor Idris Mohammed Bugaje says training out of school children on various skills acquisition is the best way to addressing youth restiveness, unemployment and reduce crime in the society.

He stated this during the ceremony of the Kaduna Polytechnic out of School youths skills acquisition programme held in Kaduna.

Professor Bugaje said the college has selected thirty out of school children and youths from the Polytechnic’s neighboring communities to be trained in different skills including carpentry, welding and plumbing among others.

According to him, the most viable solution to addressing out of school and unemployment in Nigeria is to give youths and the out of school children skills.

He however called for partnership from state government and other organizations with the Polytechnic to replicate the skills training across Northern states, expressed confidence that, such would address menace of street begging.

Professor Idris Bugaje maintained that, the beneficiaries of the skills acquisition programme will be given starter packs at the end of the training.

Also speaking, the Dan iyyan Katsina, Alhaji Lema Jibrin said challenge of unemployment in Nigeria, is deadlier than Covid-19, Boko Haram and banditry and other crime

According to Alhaji Lema Jibrin maintained that, unemployment rate in Nigeria is unfortunately over 60 per cent, he however commended the Kaduna Polytechnic for initiating the training Out-of-School children, youths and asked government at all levels, to take up the initiative.
