Traditional and Religions leaders in some selected Northern states have resolved to develop strategies towards enhancing girl Child education and build their capacities for a prosperous future.
The Emir of Argungu, Mallam Ismail Mohammed Mera stated this in Kaduna while speaking to Newsmen after a Three-day workshop organized by a civil society organization known as Keeping Girls in School Africa.
He said both leaders have set a five year target to ensure adolescent girls within the selected states of Borno, Yobe Zamfara, Sokoto and Kebbi complete their secondary schools without hindrance.
The Emir noted that the pilot states which were believed to be most hit in terms of Poor level education of the Girl child caused mostly by poverty, illiteracy and insurgency.
Mallam Ismail Mohammed Mera maintained that each of the affected states were given one year to come up with a work plan on how to achieve success.
Also speaking, Dr. Mairo Mandara, lead advocate of Keeping Girls in School Africa, expressed determination to ensure that every Girl becomes a graduate and also acquired meaningful skills in the affected states by collaborating with stakeholders including Government.
According to her, it was very important to educate the Girl child because Girls later becomes mothers and the first teacher to their children.
