Inspector General of Police-IGP Mohammed Adamu and other Officials at the Budget Defence

Inspector General of Police-IGP Mohammed Adamu says retraining of personnel and fight against internal security are the priority of the force in 2021 budget estimate.

He made the statement while defending the 2021 budget proposal of the force before the House Committee on Police Affairs at the National Assembly.

IGP Mohammed Adamu explained that the the current Police management is determined to provide the desired security to address enormous security challenges bedevilling the nation but inadequate funding has been it’s major concern.

He said the N11billion capital component of the 2021 budget is grossly inadequate to address the logistics requirements of the force and urged the lawmakers to increase the annual budget of the force to enhance it’s capacity in tackling crimes in the country.

In a remark, Chairman of the Committee Alhaji Bello Kumo said there is no way the Police Force can be effective with N11billion budget adding that the committee will ensure proper funding of the Nigeria Police Force to enable it perform effectively.

Alhaji Bello Kumo, also directed the IGP to submit the names of slain personnel of the Force especially during the End SARS protest to the office of the Speaker for adequate compensation by the government.
