Jigawa State Presents Over N156bn 2021 Budget Proposal

Governor Badaru Abubakar of Jigawa State has presented N156.6 billion appropriation bill to the State House of Assembly for 2021 fiscal year.

Presenting the budget, alhaji Abubakar Badaru explained that the 2021 budget was tagged “Budget for sustained economic growth and human capital development for achieving second phase of change agenda.

He pointed out that sustaining economic growth and human capital development would be pursued by economic diversification derive through agriculture.

The governor said N78.241 billion was for capital investment while N78.34bn had been earmarked for recurrent expenditure which comprised provision of contingency and stabilization.

According to him, education and health sector received almost 50% of the total budget amounting to N78.25bn which constitute 36.4% and 13.5% respectively.

He said N14.6 billion was earmarked for critical infrastructure such as roads and Electricity, while N6,040,000,000 to be expended on water supply and sanitation for urban, small towns and rural supply.

On agriculture, the governor explained that ministry of agriculture and livestock development received N12.1bn and N6.5billion while ministry of women affairs got N1.7bn and N1.9bn for ministry of information respectively.

In a remark, shortly after presenting the budget, the Speaker State House of Assembly Hon, Idris Garba Kareka pledged speedy passage of the budget
