Bandits Kill Police Officer, 16 others in Katsina

The Katsina State Police Command has confirmed the killing of seventeen people including a police officer by armed bandits in Duskuru village of Dandume Local Government Area of Katsina State.

The command spokesman, SP Gambo Isa who confirmed the attack explained that about three hundred bandits armed with AK47 riffles stormed the village in the early hours of Thursday.

He disclosed that 14 persons were killed during the attack on Duskuru village while four vigilante members and one police man were killed in a gun duel with the bandits.

The PPRO recalled that residents of Duskuru had killed some armed bandits a few weeks ago as they repelled an attack on their village.

Meanwhile, a resident of Marabar Maigora in Faskari Local Government Area of the State who spoke to Radio Nigeria on condition of anonymity alleged that armed bandits have killed one person and kidnapped another during an attack on the village.

He appealed to security agencies deployed in the ongoing Operation Sahel Sanity to bring an end to the incessant banditry attacks on communities in the southern part of the State.
