Workers in Kwara embark on indefinite strike

Workers in Kwara State in compliance with the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) have embarked on an indefinite strike to press home their demands on the implementation of the ₦30,000 minimum wage.

Radio Nigeria observes that; gates of some government offices are locked with the premises deserted. Most Public schools are also locked while students were seen roaming the streets.

Speaking with Journalists on the strike, Kwara State Chairman of the NLC, Comrade Aliyu Issa-Ore who expressed satisfaction with the level of compliance by the workers urged them not to be discouraged by alleged attacks on their leaders by thugs, adding that they should remain peaceful and law-abiding during and after the period of the strike.

Meanwhile, the State Government in a statement issued by the Head of Service, Mrs. Susan Okuwole, has directed the Civil Servants to return to their respective duty posts.
