Jigawa State spends Over 2bn On Taura-Garki Roads Construction


Chairman Northern Governor’s Forum, mr Simon Bako Lalong of Plateau State has commissioned Taura-Garki road project executed by the administration of Alhaji Badaru Abubakar of Jigawa State.

In a speech, Governor Simon Lalong expressed hope that the road would impacted positively on the socio-economic wellbeing of the benefitting communities.

He Congratulated Taura and Garki communities for being the beneficiaries and also thanked Governor Badaru Abubakar for his developmental drive.

Also speaking, Governor Badaru Abubakar said with the exception of Limawa-Warwade-Sakwaya and Maigatari-Birniwa road projects, his administration have completed roads inherited from the previous administration.

He pointed out that the administration had paid 56 out of the 88 billion naira contracts.

The Governor said his administration had initiated 47 roads of about 820 kilometres while 66 out of the 68 billion naira contract was paid to the contractors.

Alhaji Badaru Abubakar further explained that the 26 kilometre Taura-Garki road project was executed at the cost of more than 2 billion naira.

He thanked Governor Simon Lalong for associating himself with development brought by his administration.

Governor Badaru Abubakar assured that Taura community would benefit with 24 hours electricity supply as soon as Gagarawa Power Station commence operation.

Accirding to him, government would upgrade Taura Basic Health Clinic to the status of a General Hospital.

Radio Nigeria reports that dignitaries at the occasion includes the Deputy Governor, Mallam Umar Namadi, Speaker Jigawa State House of Assembly Alhaji Idris Garba Jahun, the Secretary to the State Government, Head of the Civil Service, both state and national assembly members and the Emir of Ringim Alhaji Sayyadi Mahmoud among others.
