United Nations says about half a million people have been affected by floods in Sudan, while thousands of homes have been destroyed.

The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs says there are fears of an outbreak as floodwaters begin to recede.

Authorities say more than 100 people have been killed and dozens more injured.

Last week, the Sudanese government declared a three-month state of emergency to deal with the effects of the floods. DW
