Reps to Interface with Digital TV Providers

House of Representatives has constituted a ten man ad-hoc committee to interface with Broadcast Digital Satellite Television Service Providers to Introduce Pay as You Go Tariff Plan in the country.
The decision followed a motion by Mr Unyime Idem, on the need to call on Multichoice Digital Satellite Television (DSTV) and Other Service Providers to Introduce Pay as You Go Tariff Plan.
Presenting the motion, Mr. Unyime Idem explained yhat Nigeria constitutes 40 percent of DSTV’s global market share, and yet the citizens do not use a greater part of their paid monthly tariff due to their daily engagements and lack of power supply.

Contributing to the debate, Alh Aminu Suleiman from Kano State said government should put a stop to the exploitation of Nigerians by Satellite Television providers by ensuring service providers put in place a pay as you watch plan.
Alh Aminu Slaiman, expressed dismay that the service providers are taking the advantage of negative attitude of Nigerian leaders to do away with huge amount of Nigerian’s money for the services they do not enjoy for one reason or the other.
The house observed that DSTV and other Service Provider operates a Pay As You Go Tariff Plan in other countries, but have chosen to exploit Nigerians through a fixed monthly Tariff Plan.
