Army Restates Commitment to end Insurgency

Nigeria Army has reiterated commitment to end insurgency in the North-East.

The Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Tukur Yusuf Buratai who was represented by the Chief of Policy, Nigeria Army, Lieutenant General Lamidi Adeosun stated this at the ongoing 41st Kaduna International Trade Fair.

Lieutenant General Tukur Buratai said troops deployed in Damboa, Borno State recently, recorded tactical victory against the insurgents, where the terrorists lost a lot of men and equipment.

According to Burutai, the primary role of the Army was to defend the territorial integrity of the nation and also contribute to Nigeria’s economic development was also involved in the internal security operations across the country.

He said in order to contribute to economic development of the country, Nigeria Army had established Nigeria Army Farm and Ranches, Post Service, Housing Development Limited, Command Engineering Depot and welfare limited.

The Chief of Army Staff commended Defence Industries Corporation of Nigeria-DICON in collaboration with Command Engineering Depot which produced EZUGWU, the first indigenous Mine Resistant Ambush Protected Vehicle.

Lieutenant General Tukur Buratai stressed that the strategic alliance led to the Jos production of patrol vehicles, bullet proof vests, ballistic helmets, mines and IED clearance Equipment.
