The Council Chairman, Soba Local Government Area of Kaduna State Alh. Mohammed Mahmud Aliyu has applauded President Mohammadu Buhari and Governor Ahmed Nasiru El’rufai for the Matari Dam Project currently under rehabilitation.
The Council Chairman gave the commendation during a Pre-Project sensitization on rehabilitation of Matari Dam in Kaduna State.
Alh.Mohammed Mahmud Aliyu explained that the project was part of Federal Government Intervention through office of the Ecological Fund and that when completed, would curb environmental degradation and at the same time boost economic viability of Kaduna state and the country at large.
The Chairman described Soba Local Government as home of peace and harmony with natural potential for dry season farming .
He pledged to give the needed assistance and support towards ensuring that the project was completed within stipulated period.
According to Alh. Mahmud Aliyu, the Dam had hitherto attracted people from neighboring countries like Chad, Cameroon and Niger Republic who had periodically visited the area to partake in irrigation, fishing as well as buying and selling among other economic activities.
He said more projects would be executed in the area to include: good roads, drainage systems, healthcare and basic education facilities as well as portable drinking water so as to enable residents enjoy dividends of democracy.
