President Muhammadu Buhari has condemned the latest round of bandits’ attacks on farmers in Damkal and Tsanwa villages in Batsari Local Government Area of Katsina State.
In a statement, President Buhari says killing people in the name of revenge was not acceptable.
While worried about the incident, in which homesteads were razed with many people killed at weekend, the President warned that no one in the country had a right to take laws into their own hands by way of self-help or revenge.
He urged local communities to apprehend bandits and hand over them to law enforcement authorities, rather than meting out capital punishment, leading to a cycle of revenge and counter revenge.
The President emphasized that authorities must be allowed to investigate and deal with any breach that had occurred, pointing out that there is no place for violence in a decent society.
