The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Gombe State, has described the recently concluded council elections in the state as a mockery because the process lacks transparency.
In a statement by the Public Relations Officer of the party in the state, Abdulkadir Dukku, said the elections failed in the mobilisation of the opposition parties to participate in the process.
He also accused the Gombe State Independent Electoral Commission (GOSIEC) for failing to inform the PDP about plan to conduct the elections which prompted the party’s decision to boycott the process.
The PRO further described the elections as a child’s play , alleging that election materials were not taken to the polling units to enable people participate in the elections.
He maintained that the elections was a repeat of the kangaroo Council Polls conducted under the leadership of Governor Inuwa Yahaya in 2024.
Speaking on alleged vulgar remarks by Governor Inuwa Yahaya against victims of government demolition of illegal structures in the state , Abdulkadir Dukku, said the governor’s action violates the fundamental rights to dignity of the affected persons.
He stressed that the Gombe State Chapter of the PDP further condemned the governor’s action.
