As part of efforts to enhance capacity and professionalism within the information sector, the Kano State Government has inaugurated a special committee to receive and process applications from media professionals interested in returning to school to further their education.
The Commissioner for Information and Internal Affairs, Comrade Ibrahim Waiya, stated this during the presentation of certificates to participants who completed a six-week training programme on modern computer skills organized by the ministry for its staff.
Waiya described the initiative as part of the ministry’s broader commitment to human capital development, emphasizing that continuous education and professional training are vital to improving service delivery and effective communication.
According to him, staff development remains one of the ministry’s key priorities,stressing that more specialized training programmes will be introduced to equip personnel with contemporary digital and communication skills.
He maintained that their is need for media professionals to adapt their communication styles and language to suit different audiences and platforms while maintaining professionalism and projecting the positive image of Kano State and its people.
The commissioner noted that the rapidly evolving media landscape requires practitioners to continually upgrade their knowledge and skills to remain relevant and effective in the discharge of their responsibilities.
Waiya commended participants for their dedication throughout the six-week programme and expressed confidence that the skills acquired would enhance their productivity and efficiency.
He also encouraged other staff members to take advantage of future training opportunities and educational support initiatives provided by the government.
Reaffirming the administration’s commitment to strengthening the capacity of media professionals and civil servants, the commissioner said continuous learning and skills acquisition would remain central to the state’s workforce development agenda.
As part of the graduation ceremony, certificates were presented to participants who successfully completed the training programme.
To encourage excellence and outstanding performance, three participants who distinguished themselves during the course were rewarded with computers.
The initiative is expected to contribute significantly to the modernization of information management, digital literacy, and media practice across Kano State.
