NBTE Launches Foundation to Boost Polytechnic Education, Global Competitiveness

National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) has inaugurated a Polytechnic Foundation to revitalize educational activities through academic innovation, improved institutional capacity, and international collaboration, aiming to enhance the learning environment across the country.

The Executive Secretary of the Board, Professor Idris Bugaji, explained at the inauguration ceremony at its Secretariat in Kaduna that the Foundation aims to address key challenges faced by polytechnic institutions in the country.

Prof Idris Bugaji highlited that the foundation would do it’s utmost to enhance the quality, relevance, and
global competitiveness of Polytechnic Education in Nigeria through deliberate collaborations of knowledge exchange.

‘the establishment of Nigeria polytechnic foundation represents a strategic move towards addressing the critical challenges facing the polytechnic institutions and the council role is pivotal in strengthening institutional capacity, foster academic innovation,and promote industry collaboration among others’

‘the members of this foundation are encouraged to work towards transforming the polytechnic education nationwide;by ensuring that graduates are not only equiped with technical skills but also posses global competencies needed to thrive in the international labour market ‘, he narrated

The Executive Secretary called on both private and public polytechnics in the country to support the foundation aimed at enhancing academic and operational capacities of the polytechnics in the country.

‘the foundation objectives aimed to Strengthen Institutional capacity by investing in academic staff
capacity building and development, infrastructure upgrades of laboratories, workshops, and embedded power supply through strategic resource allocations among others, he concluded

Professor Idris Bugaji admonished council members of the foundation to use their wealth of experience to effect the desire change , to achieve the needed objective.

He also said the foundation membership is open to both public and private polytechnics within and in diaspora.

In a remark, chairman of the foundation Professor Ahmed Tijjani Abdullahi acknowledged infrastructure deficit in the polytechnics across the country,while assuring of working hard with his team members to deliver on their mandates.

The inaugural ceremony had in attendance key stakeholders from the academia both live and in diaspora who gave their commitment and support for the polytechnic foundation.
