United Nations Children’s Fund UNICEF says it will offer endless support to Jigawa state to address the high number of Out-of-School children across the state.
The Chief of Kano Field Office of UNICEF, Rahma Farah, made this known at a one-day commitment meeting, with members of the Jigawa State House of Assembly held in Kaduna.
He said that the number of Out-of-School children in Jigawa State was alarming, thus needs a collective effort to address.
Rahma Farah, commended the State House of Assembly for its effort in changing the narrative on education in the state.
He added that, the Assembly had so far passed seven laws on education since its inception.
He also acknowledged the commitment of the present administration, in establishing State Ministries of Basic Education, Higher education and other education agencies.
In his remark, the Speaker Jigawa State House of Assembly, Alhaji Haruna Dangyatun commended UNICEF for its multiple interventions in Jigawa.
He pledged the commitment and support of the Assembly, in addressing issues that disruption the progress of education in Jigawa state.
He expressed delight over the viable developments achieved in the State, with support from UNICEF and other development agencies brought to the state.
Radio Nigeria reports that UNICEF is supporting the Jigawa State Universal Basic Education SUBEB on its 2024 constituency based commitment, to reduce the number of out of school children.
