Tricycle operators popularly known as “Keke Napep” have staged a protest to express their grievances over the increase in pump price of petroleum by the federal government.
The protest took place at Oloje ,Oko Olowo and , Zango in Ilorin East and Ilọrin West Local Government Areas of Kwara State among others.
The people who trooped out in their numbers were chanting different songs and obstructing vehicular movement.
Radio Nigeria Correspondent, who went round Ilọrin metropolis and environs to assess the situation discovered that many are expressing anger of not being able to recoup the money spent on fuel after daily operation.
One of the tricycle operators Amuda Sikiru said they are not even thinking of making profit now , but having the money spent on buying back fuel.
He said government need to do something urgent to save small businesses from collapse.
Sikiru appealed to the federal government to intervene to enable them remain in business.
The incident has left commuters stranded as some of them resorted to trekking long distance to attend to their needs.
