The Jigawa State FADAMA CARES Project Coordinator, Aliyu Inuwa, has issued a stern warning to beneficiaries of agricultural inputs against selling or diverting the support provided under the program.
He issued the warning while speaking to some beneficiaries during the launch of the phase five distribution of agricultural inputs held at Dutse, JASCO store.
Aliyu Inuwa said that under the fifth phase of implementation, a total of 4,340 farmers benefited from the agricultural inputs, including three bags of fertilizer, agrochemicals, and herbicides.
He pointed out that the farmers were divided into four different food production categories, which include 640 for rice, 640 for maize, 640 for millet, 1,660 for sorghum, and 1,400 for other crops.
According to him, each beneficiary has been given three bags of fertilizer, including 2 bags of NPK, 1 bag of UREA, along with agrochemicals and herbicides.
“This support is a grant, not a loan, so we expect you to use it judiciously to enhance food production.”
“We will be closely monitoring the use of these inputs, and anyone found selling or diverting them will face serious consequences,” Aliyu Inuwa stressed.
The Coordinator added that the project falls under Nigeria COVID-19 Action Recovery and Economic Stimulus (NG-CARES) Results Area II, which aims to expand access to livelihood support, food security services, and grants for poor and vulnerable households and firms.
Some of the farmers commended the Jigawa State Government for the support and assured that they would utilize it effectively.
