Thousands of youths have commenced a peaceful protest in Sokoto state , joining their counterparts in the nationwide protest against bad governance in the country.
Radio Nigeria correspondent in the state report that the youth have taken over streets within the metropolitan city of Sokoto , holding placards with inscription calling for the reversal of prices of petroleum products, electricity tariffs, and other unfavourable policies.
The protest is guarded by security agencies who positioned themselves in various government establishments and streets to ensure law and order while markets and shops were closed in a bid to avoiding looting.
The protesters also gathered themselves at the main entrance of Sokoto state government house which is heavily guarded to avoid incursion.
